Well.....what was originally forecast to be 29.5 hours ended up becoming 31.5 hours with a few delays thrown in.....and yes those extra 2 hours felt like 20 hours!!! Qantas really was the way to fly - no complaints from us, and being able use the Qantas lounges was great. We had a smooth transition through customs and imigration at LA and then an even easier exit at JFK in NY. The cabbie was easy to talk to and didn't try any of the so called shenanigans that some people write about. Also it wasn't as cold as we thought it might have been - more like a crisp Perth autumn night - it was really ...

Destination: Melbourne, Kiama, Apollo Bay, Merimbula, Gundagai, Geelong
This road trip was our Easter holiday for 2010, been wanting to see the 12 apostles in great ocean road since we moved to Australia and so happy to finally made this trip . Left Sydney at 530AM and took the Hume Hi-way to Melbourne, had breakfast at Hungry Jacks Marulan and stopped at Gundagai for Lunch and nap at one of the park there. Its a small town surrounded with rivers and creeks and apparently the mosses are gigantic on that place. This town is known for interesting attractions, such as the Prince Alfred Bridge and the tale of Dog on the Tuckerbox. Arrived late at Geelong around past 9...

Miami is the major city in the state of Florida which metropolitan area as the forth largest urban area in the United States. This city weather is generally hot to warm which summer months of June-September will see most day time highs over 90o centigrade. I went to see nearly a car or home without running air conditioning. Friday feb 5th - Sunday feb 7th Flight JFK - LAS- ACK We were finished with packing 5 min after our car service arrived to pick us up to the airport. What can i say, packing has never been our talent. 6 hrs to LA. Highlights of the flight: paparazzi in Los Angeles airport. 14 hrs to NZ by Qantas airline was surprisingly much easier. Our first 2 floor airplane, amazing meal, TV for each sit (with movies on demand and video games) and they even provide one time use toothbrush and toothpaste for each passenger. Definitely flying with Qantas again. Stayed in B&B in center of Auckland that looked l...

5. Australia 2007 - 2008
Destination: Sydney, Cairns, Katoomba, Kuranda, Brisbane, Great Barrier R...
I was so excided about this trip. My dad dropped me off at the San Francisco International airport and I was off on the biggest vacation of my life. I got some Australian currency and then when off to have dinner. I was surprised at the lack of good food at the international terminal at San Francisco International. I had heard that they had added a lot of hi-end restaurants but I didn’t see any. I had a pizza and a Corona beer and watched the 49er game. I then listened to Nirvana on my Ipod until Karen arrived. I was rocking out to the Nirvana album Nevermind like I was a college student. It f...

6. Aussie Study Abroad
Destination: Brisbane, Melbourne, Cairns, Sydney, Wellington, Darwin, Ali...
I had the opportunity to study abroad for the fall semester of my junior year in college. I immediately took this amazing opportunity and decided to go to Australia. I wanted to go someplace warm and exciting, and someplace where I possibly may never get to spend a long amount of time there again. I thought Australia would be the perfect place! I went through Butler University's Study Abroad Program, which was arranged with my home university. I decided to study at the University of Queensland near Brisbane, Australia. I was able to travel extensively during this time and hope this guide will ...

7. Oz 2006
Destination: Sydney, Brisbane, Singapore, Sunshine Coast, Surfers Paradis...
Flew from Manchester (UK) to Singapore with Singapore Airlines. The flight was suprisingly enjoyable. Plenty of entertainment options on the flight with on-demand audio and video. It was a day flight so didn't need to sleep, which is a good job because I can't sleep on airplanes. It was roughly 13 hours out (13.5 hours back). Arrived in Singapore early morning. The first thing that hits you is the humidity. Within minutes outside your clothes are sticking to you. It was a nice relief though after the very long winter in the UK. Went straight to check-in to Carlton Hotel. I made the mistake of ...

9. Luke's Graduation 2009

Flight to San Francisco from Australia was uneventful although we experienced quite a bit of turbulence. Arrived around midday (still Saturday) and caught a taxi to our hotel - The Chelsea Motor Inn in the Marina District. We actually had a view of the Golden Gate Bridge from our room. Beautiful day - walked down to Fishermans Wharf area and everyone was taking advantage of the warm weather. Purchased the CityPass which gave us unlimited rides on public transport as well as a 1 hour cruise under the bridge and around Alcatraz Island and we managed to catch that. Had a clam chowder in a sourdou...
